| Ernie Els is desperate to add to his three Major titles. |
South African Ernie Els has decided to cut his schedule this year so that he can focus on adding to his three major titles.
The 38-year-old has won the US Open twice (1995 and 1997) and an Open Championship (at Muirfield in 2002), but following knee surgery in 2005, the smooth swinging Els has been a shadow of his former self.
Els has always been a very international golfer, much like his elder compatriot Gary Player. All the globetrotting invariably has meant that Els often feels burned out before the end of the season.
"I think there were maybe times in the past when I've tried to please too many people. Not now," Els told his website.
"I'm 38 and I need to think about me and how I can give myself the best chance to add to the three majors that I've already won.
Els will start his season at the Dubai Desert Classic starting on 31 January and will not begin his American campaign until the Honda Classic on 28 February.
